My Winnipeg Trailer - dir.Guy Madden

I’ve been talking to Greg; who’s from there; about this movie lately, I saw it a few days ago and thought it was amazing. It is a surrealistic, quasi-documentary, film noir, claustrophobic, david lynch-y type love letter to a city.

The love with its misunderstanding, frustration, protection, joy, rejection and re-finding innate resolution to it, is there to the point that you dont need to know Winnipeg to watch the movie. It probably adds a lot of a literal personal reference if you know the city, (and certainly would add to some picking apart fact, embellished stories and those out right made up) but appreciating how its told, the metaphorical points of the stories and feeling isolated don’t need a small city to be relatable. First movie i’ve loved in a long while.
